The Problem.
Many rail depots across the country suffer from poor lighting, often caused by outdated or unsuitable fixtures that scatter light indiscriminately. This creates inefficiencies in energy consumption, disrupts nearby ecosystems, and causes unnecessary light pollution, which can irritate local residents and harm surrounding flora and fauna. The Trackline Bulkhead addresses these challenges with a purpose-built design that combines precision lighting, vandal resistance, and environmental sensitivity.
After visiting several rail depots around the country, and conducting research into what is required for the correct, and legal, lighting of depots, It became clear that to help solve the issue of lighting the perimeters and general areas inside depots would require a fitting that could be adapted easily to suit the different environments.
Application Challenges.
The Trackline Bulkhead is specifically designed to address the challenging lighting needs of rail maintenance depots, where mounting heights can range from 2.8m to 5m. Its adaptable design ensures efficient, consistent illumination across varying heights, with specialist optics directing light precisely where needed while eliminating spill above the horizontal plane to minimize environmental impact.
Installation is quick and straightforward thanks to a first-fix mounting box, and the robust, bird-deterrent body ensures durability and long-term performance. By offering two distinct optical packages, the Trackline Bulkhead simplifies the specification process, making it easier to design cohesive lighting schemes for entire depots. It provides optimal lighting for pathways with spacing up to 17m and for open areas up to 9.4m. Ideal for applications such as pathways, sidings, car parks, utility areas, and doorways, the Trackline Bulkhead delivers reliable, efficient lighting tailored to the demands of complex depot environments.
The Solution.
This luminaire is designed with circular economy principles in mind, ensuring it is both retrofittable and upgradeable to reduce waste and extend its life cycle. A TM66 circular economy assessment was conducted to validate its sustainability, while embodied carbon was measured in compliance with TM65.2 standards.

Electronic control gear on a removable tray, simplifying repairs and upgrades with a fused plug-and-socket connector block.
Designed for wall installation, with provision for conduit entry on the sides and bottom of the first-fix box.
High IP65 rating for weather resistance and an exceptional IK14 (100J) rating for impact protection.
