Approach.

I thrive on tackling complex design challenges through extensive research, collaboration, and iterative problem-solving.

My work emphasises leveraging detailed research to achieve excellent user-centric designs that align with technical and market demands. This approach ensures the creation of innovative, functional, and user-centric products.

Achievements.

Throughout my career, I’ve successfully delivered projects across industries such as lighting, pet care, and consumer goods. Notable achievements include the development of the Free-Standing Chicken Perch for Omlet Ltd, a modular and customisable perch system praised for its innovative design and ability to engage and enrich poultry. A smart and innovative Hamster Tube System for Omlet Ltd, with unique features to aid in usability and safety. My most recent product launch at Designplan Lighting was revolutionising the Tuscan G2 product range, one of the companies best selling products for over 40 years. I spearheaded the development of the Trackline Bulkhead, a lighting solution recognised for its environmental sensitivity and robust design, and Arculus Linear, a range of ligature resistant light fittings designed for a secure health environment.

My Current Role

For the past two years, I’ve worked as an NPI (New Product Introduction) Design Engineer at Designplan Lighting, where I’ve led projects from concept to production. My role has involved developing lighting solutions for challenging environments, ensuring they meet rigorous performance standards while maintaining cost-effective manufacturability.

  • A versatile, high-performance linear lighting system designed for use in a secure health environment, with a focus on modularity, ease of installation and ligature resistant design.

  • A robust, vandal-resistant bulkhead designed specifically for rail depots, featuring advanced optics to eliminate light pollution and innovative mounting solutions for efficient installation.

  • A vandal resistant linear luminaire specifically designed for challenging environments.

As part of the new generation of the Tuscan family, Tuscan G2 combines improved efficiency, enhanced impact resistance, and a refined modern aesthetic.

Skills.

My technical expertise includes advanced CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, NX11), automated manufacture (3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal punching), and manufacturing processes like injection moulding, blow moulding and various sheet metal fabrication.

I’m also experienced in managing all stages of product development, from initial research and ideation to testing, validation, and final production.

I hold a BEng in Product Design Engineering and have always sought to deepen my understanding of the field through continuous learning.

To expand my expertise in electrical engineering and lighting design for future projects, I completed the LIA Lighting Course with a Grade A. This achievement reflects my commitment to mastering new disciplines and enhancing my ability to design innovative and technically robust solutions.
